Alright,
as topic states i'm looking for a couple of brave souls who own R19 16valve ph1 or ph2 or clio valvers.
Reason: to test a modded chip for your ECU.
as you may recall from the ebay section, a guy called Mick has been selling modded chips for ECU's claiming a power increase.
I have tested 3 chips for him so far on one of my ECU's and we have discovered a fault that may lie in the immobliser circuit on the later issue ECU's
I will be carrying out further testing on my ph1 ECU meantime.
what it involves, you have to remove your ECU and if you are lucky once you have it opened you will have a nice socket to swap the chips over with, if you are unlucky you will have to do some soldering.
My ECU on the ph2 is non socket but to aid in my testing i have modded it with a socket to ease swapping over ECU's.
if you dont have the skills to do the soldering on the ECU, i can do the job for you but it will involve a 3 day turnaround, 1 day for u to send me the ECU, 1 day for me to recieve it and solder the socket on, post it back and then the 3rd day you should get it back.
if the modded chip fails then its a case of swapping it back over for the standard chip.
its a 10 minute job to swap chips with a socket in place.
Dont apply if your ECU is marked
HOM7700857526
BVM7700860285
Siemens S101715101
Mick is suppling the chips free of charge to those willing to carry out testing, these he sells for £75 each on ebay.
i have been in deep correspondence with him over the last 2 weeks and it is my firm belief now the guy is selling a genuine product.
he has sent me emails from ppl who have had succesful results from the chips with thier email addys so that i can contact them and confirm the results and ppl have had significant inprovments
with my help we have discovered its not compatible with the above ECU and during further testing he has decided not to sell anymore until he can gurantee they will work on all ECU's.
One last thing, if the modded chip does fail, it does not cause any damage to your ECU, it is merely a set of instructions for the onboard processor, a chip containing software.
check my progress report here and you will see whats involved in swapping the chip yourself
Thanks |

seeing as i was one of the people that questioned these chips in a previous thread i would be happy to test one. like chris said what would be involved is it just a customer satifaction test or do you require figures? |

its basicly a compatibility test, for each type of ECU on these cars.
Mick has decided not to sell anymore until he knows that they will work on all types of ECU.
The information required back from you needs to be the serial numbers on your ECU (printed on the top case of the ECU cover)
What happens when you run your car with this chip (i wont say what happened with mine because i dont want to bias the tests one way or another)
And if you notice any increase or dcrease in performance.
You get to keep the chips too if you are happy with them |

aye gimme one, I have 2 spare 16V ECU's.
The 4 that I have including the 2 chammys outside are all HOM7700742850 and I would imagine 90% of all ph1's are as well.
Solder in as well oh the joys. |

Yep IC9 (28 pin) the one with the sticker on
For those that don't know the chip is an EPROM, Eraseable, Programable Read Only Memory so don't remove the sticker from the chips lol as it erases the programming |

i thought it needed to be blasted with UV light to be erased? cant see how removing the sticker would do that |

yes but i didnt think they were strong enough, hence the need for the lamp. perhaps it just speeds it up. |

UV lamp - instant wipe of memory - most kind of light gives off UV so most types of light are not good for eproms if u remove the sticker.
Chris & Leigh, PM your addresses and i'll send up a socket for you and pass your addresses onto Mick so he can send you the chips.
if you are gonna be unsoldering ur chip, u may as well solder on the socket so if the modded chip does not work, saves u unsoldering again.
anyone else interested in testing these chips ? |

the sockets on its way to me and the ECU will be sent tomorrow.
I will be testing it on the old 0-60, 0-80, 0-100 and see what the top end is and the most important of all fuel consumption. |
