 Can i get some recomendations on Front Discs and Pads?

I need to wak some discs & pads on the front 4 Mot, can people give me recomendations on good performing discs and pads that don't cost an arm & a leg..??

Chrome doesn't have good heat disapating (sp) properties Wink

so...not being funny like but what about all those nice shiney discs on all those performance cars out there?, i mean there are alot of very fast cars with shiney chrome discs init

I've never seen shiney chromelike discs except on show cars/bikes that don't use em!

EBC Turbo Groove discs & Black Diamond Predator pads. Legend. I could stop from 100mph to 0mph in 1 second. Okay, maybe a bit longer. And they are nice to look at through alloys Very Happy ......

Take top off of brake fluid reservoir, (Iusually pust some rag over the top to stop spillage/dirt getting in) then using a large pair of grips on piston and back og calipers, SLOWLY push the piston in.

I run tarox on the 5, 40 grove vented never had any probs with fading.

if you want some adVICE Bladey, me & my mate used a VICE to get my pistons back in lol. A vice is a thing that not a lot of people have tho innit. Doh

i just put the caliper back on and use a big screwdirver as a lever against the disc Laughing Rolling Eyes

Like neal, i tend to lever them back in with a screwdriver.

Unless its the rear, in which case you need to turn them back in.

Got a vice on the bench in the garage, might have to be removed.

Generally dont like to lever them with a screwdriver but then I have only ever changed bike brake pads so probably a little more delecate.

Interesting that backs need to be screwed in? Could have done some serious damage with the vice there!

ferrodo pads and stock discs. I drive harder than most and I don;t have any problems.

As for the piston, with the wheel off just pull on the calipers body, easy.

God damned bleed nipples!

played around with the passenger side rear caliper today, got piston in eventually, pads in although the spring clips and the retaining plates are missing!!!

Then found the bleed nipple thread inside the caliper has come away completely!

Gonna tackle the drivers side tomorrow check what bits I need then its a trip to the breakers.

i find my ebay £10 std frt disks just fine Very Happy

i use a brake caliper tool to push my pistons back in, avaliably from places like part co, as an apprentice im told to use the correct tool for the job!!!

I'm doing rear brakes at the moment and you have to turn the piston clockwise to retract it. There is about a 4mm deep groove across the face of the piston that according to Haynes is just right for a square screwdriver shaft to be placed along it to turn the piston...........is it bol***ks!

On my old 1916v the rear pistons used to screw back in easy enough ......must have been lucky Laughing

On my 21t iv got Black Diamond 12 groove discs and Mintex fast road pads but i still get brake fade Confused
