Hey guys and gals,
I've got a little problem with my sisters pug 309 1.4 SPI (Bosch SPI used with a lot of 1.4 renaults (chris done a techie about the same thing)).
When cold the idle is very high and takes about half a minute to become anywhere near acceptable(too high but it is smooth even when at 1k rpm). Now when the car heats the idle gets worse and the running gets worse to (it becomes a stuttery). When she is hot the idle is bad almost every sec there is a misfire. I've cleaned the breather hoses and the air filter/rotor/sparkplugs have al been changed and all the leads and plugs checked. What could this be??
Oh and the ICV seems to react real slow, when the car is warm and you rev it in neutral to 3k rpm you release throttle it'll dip to 900rpm and then go all the way up to 2,5k rpm and then slowly back to 1100? Anyone got ideas? |

the mrs used to have one, best thing we did was off load that hunk o crap.
Have you cleaned the throttle body itself?
The system is very crap no MAP input or anything entirely on engine speed and throttle position.
But I would also say the coolant temp sender may be a source of the problems.
We used to go through a crank sensor every couple of months on the thing as well.
Also check the main loom connections, they are very crap, they are round connectors which you twist a collar to lock them. Theres 2 version the version with the male and female pins then the 2 male pins which just rest against each other. The male are worse but the female set up corrodes as well.
And the crappy relay behind the ECU the dual fuinction effort goes wrong lots as well. |
