On my 21t when the engine is hot the fans are not kicking in ....but if i wiggle the plug going into the fan switch (on radiator) the fans make a half hearted attempt to come on,
BUT ...
when i switch on the fans through the manual switch i installed on the dash, the fans kick in with no problems, and then, even if i wiggle the fan switch whilst the fans are on MANUAL, they do not miss a beat,
So is this a faulty fan switch in the radiator ???? |

well the manual switch bypasses the rad switch, so Rebus what have we discovered?
Manual switch bypasses the rad switch so it won;ty make a difference if you wiggle it or pee on it.
But when you wiggle it when the manual switch is left off the fan make an attempt to come on.
2 possible conclusions, rad switch faulty or wiring connector dodgy. |

well yeah. Fan switch ain't cheap.
Ever though of binning the 21 switch? stick a 19/clio/whaterver else in there and take the plug off the loom then wire it up.
Both fans will come on instead of sequentially will stop 1 seizing and it will only be on for a few seconds. |

Renault want £42 for a switch
Would the 19 switch fit in the radiator ??
On the old loom before i made the new one i had the 2 fan wires that went into the plug soldered together so both did come on at the same time, but when i redone the loom i went back to the old set up ...but what i did notice this morning in the traffic jam for ages is that one fan was taking a wee while to cool the engine down, so i might go back the the old set up and solder up the 2 wires again so both come on. |
