Wicked Neo gave me the GSF part number for the ball joints - 42406... trouble is, they only had one in stock, fucking typical...wankers.
As for the track rod ends, even the guy behind the counter couldnt make head nor tail of their stupid fucking cryptic part naming as to whether it fits the 16v.
So... who's got a GSF part number for the track rod ends for a valver?
JB? |

That was my instinct too, but
R42406 BALL JOINT-LOWER R19 ALL EXC 16V
thats the one that Wicked Neo told me was right for the valver, and the guy offered me that one as well, without me telling him a part number. WTF does 'EXC 16v' mean then? obviously not 'excluding 16v'
R43654 TIE ROD END-LH R19 EXC 16V
R43656 TIE ROD END-RH R19 EXC 16V
and those are the track rod ends... again EXC 16v.... idiotic GSF. |

when i went to GSF to get mine, the guy behind the counter first said oh, yours is a 16V? we dont do ball joints for those, then his mate came out and said 'yeah we do, i sold a pair a couple of days ago'
got a pair out of stock and they were the exc 16v ones.
R42406 BALL JOINT-LOWER R19 ALL EXC 16V
we had a bit of a debate about it and they called up some renault specilist at thier head branch, the answer back is the only difference in those and the 16v versions is the 16 version is that bar is ever so slightly thicker ( the piece of metal that the two bolts go thru to connect to the wish bone)
I've fitted mine and they do the job |

No matter, fucked GSF off, ill probably not ever go there again. Only went there in the first place because it was on the way home from work.
Theres a big factors in Welwyn Garden City called Bennetts. Went there earlier and got what i needed. As usual they came through with the parts quickly and cheaply.
All made by 'Moog', who according to their webiste
"The choice of NASCAR Winston Cup champions for 38 consecutive years, Moog Chassis Parts is the automotive service industry’s premier brand of replacement steering and suspension components."
so im happy with that. Also got some proper battery terminals for the chamade.
Total cost: £40.07 all in |
