a few of us on here have that dialogsys, i've found it very handy but beware, it can be a right pig to get working on your pc.
it wont run at all on my home pc but works fine on my work pc even thou specs of both machines are pretty much spot on.
having said that, i tried it on my mates PC when he had just installed windows and it worked fine, i did the same with my work pc, str8 after a fresh install of windows and again it worked fine.
my home pc already had versions of quicktime, adobe etc on it which the dialogsys uses to work, but its very picky on the versions it uses, even after uninstalling the ones on my home pc and reinstalling the ones that came with the dialogsys cd, it still would not work. |

Thanks for the reply Neo
Well I went ahead and bought a set I did see a website with instructions for installing it- I will try 'the method' and keep my fingers crossed, if I can't get it working I guess I could sell it on eBay |

Actually, just wanted to ask - are the 'labour times' given quite accurate?I find the 'spanner rating' in the Haynes not at all any indication of time to expect jobs to take.
Errr can you tell this is my first car There is a fair bit 'wrong' with it and want to have a bash at doing it myself and learn all about cars in the process. |

to be honest i've never looked at the labour times, i would say they use those times as a guide when giving customers quotes as they all charge by the hour.
I would also say those times are based around an experienced renault technician doing the job with the proper tools to hand.
not like us who have to work on 10 - 14 year old cars out on the drive / road armed with a hammer, blow torch and a few sockets trying to free off bolts that have 10 years plus worth of rust and gunk holding them together lol |

LOL so the guide time + 8 hours at least will be a sufficient guide |

yep, lol, plus you need to add plasters, smokes, ample cups of coffee, a swear filter and you're pretty much set to tackle any job on your renault. |

I've found if you get the white screen, u need to close it down.
go into the dialogsys folder in program files and double click dialogsys.bat
thats what i have to do on my work pc |

I got my Dialogys this morning and it installed ok. I had to copy a file out of Windows/repair and put it into the system 32 folder to get the java thing and adobe reader to install. Then when I ran it all I got was a white screen - to rectify that I had to go to C:Windows:Program Files and run the Windows Cab file, the shortcut on my desktop wouldn't work so made another using the cab file.
Just in case anyone else can't get it working. |
