I've got the old style themostat housing on my 92 chammy. Anwho, when doing the bolts back up the top one of the three sheered in the head  Im guessing it was a dodgy bolt seeing as I wasn't putting much pressure on it. Now, the question is, will the bottom 2 bolts be sufficient (ie, can i get away with it!) or am i going to have to drill it out  |

one of my 3 bolts on the 1.8 rt is missing since i bought it 1.5 years ago ,never had any problems loosing either pressure or water . |

Good man! Exactly what i wanted to hear! No doubt chris will come along and burst my bubble  Incidently, the thermostat was gleaming and rubber seal was spot on, must only be a few weeks/months old  |

well the 16V runs at a higher coolant pressure. so I wouldn't trust it.
I had an 'issue' with my coolign system this weekend. |

Yeah tell me about it. Im guessing a garage would charge the earth to do it? I really can't be arsed at the moment and it doesnt appear to be leaking, just not sure if those 2 bolts would be able to hold it under pressure. |

have u had the housing back off to see if there is any stud sticking out of the block u can get pliers/molegrips on? |

There is a tiny tiny ammount, I dont think there's enough to actually get anything to grip it. |

get a nut on it, then weld the nut to whats left of the bolt.will generally get it out, partly due to the heat of the weld helping free of the bolt, and then u also have sonething to undo it with |
