What's this pipe bit that the arrows pointing to? I'm guessing it's an air feed cuz it's pointing to where the factory airbox used to be?
Just wondering cuz I've put a bit of pipe on it to try and help the K&N a bit more......
That's probably quite pointless I know, but was just wondering if I had connected it to an air feed, or if that pipe is in fact.....nothing. lol |

Where the standard airbox was, there would have been a pipe connected to the underside of it that passes cold air into the Box. |

Yeah, I noticed that there is an angled pipe comin out of the bottom of me air box, but there was no actual pipe connecting that with the one on the car. They were just pointing at each other like |

yep, there would have been a hose connected to it which runs to the inlet on the bottom of the airbox
on this pic of my ph2 u can see the original ducting still in place althou (and i keep saying this and will do it) i'm gonna re-route it to feed direct into the IK

When I bought my K&N I got a feed with it. I just fitted it to the original air feed (the thing you pointed) |

If you look at my 2nd pic (one with the feed pipe in), u can see the feed pipe that came with the K&N, pointing up just below the actual K&N. So I got 2 feeds. The one that came with my K&N wouldn't fit over that bit I pointed at, so I bought that other metal one from halfords for 99p or something |

that airfeed on the ph2 is crap comparing to the ph1 thus the duct pipe u installed wont help either.
if you want cold pressurized air then feed it from the side of the foglight |

yeah hes right...on the p2 it is just leading to a void in the bumper...so there will be no air moving thru it, even when ur moving, so ur wasting ur time. |

I seeeeeee. That's probably why I had no ducting on it in the first place then? Cuz it does nothing? Well I'm gonna take shakal's advice and try and feed it from the side of the fog light...............when I can be arsed lol |

from the factory it would have had ducting leading into the air box...so the airbox would only have the option to suck air from behind/within the bumper, thats why the airbox is a good idea...it isnt sucking hot engine bay air in.
just an IK on its own is poor imo as it is suckin in hot engine bay air...u need to duct it off from the engine bay a bit. |

Yeah I was gonna try and make some kinda heat shield to fit around me induction kit, but decided it was a bit complicated. I work for a sign company so we got sheet aluminium that I could cut / bend into shape to try and make some kinda construction to box it off from the engine a bit. Ah well, Might give it a go one day. Will post pics if I do come up with something! |

Ooh we've got some of that in work, for extraction off one of our big printers. Do you literally mean like cover the induction kit? Or just have it leading up to it and pointing at it pretty close like? Cuz 6" will be quite a tight fit? I'll see tomorrow anyway, sure they'll let me 'ave some to try out |

i have enclosed mine in the ducting and the end of the ducting is behind the headlight, so its source of air is kinda as far from the engine as it can get....does make a difference..i can always tell when it has fallen off. |

Have just had a quick (and I mean QUICK) look at the bumper down by the foglight (where I was planning to put the ducting)......and it seems to be rather blocked off by a nice piece of plastic doh.....
Am gonna have another look a bit later to see if I can take it off. Take fog light off first by the look of it? Then get plastic out? Then put fog light back without plastic? |

For feck sake.......the screw holding me fog light on is rounded to complete shit and so I can't get the fog light out Bit of a pain in the arse! I even tried super glueing an old screw driver to the end of it to see if I could turn it then, but no joy. Ah well. That's the end of that then! doh |
