Ok, 1993 Phase 2 R19 16valve
Car won't start.
key in, all ignition lights come on, ECU light flashes for 2 seconds then remains steady as it should.
Battery is fully charged.
Ignition on, fuel pump whirrs into life and primes, turn key to start and nothing, can hear fuel pump whirring, but no click from solonoid, starter motor not turning.
pulled off starter motor heat sheild and checked connections, all seem fine.
the car was running fine all day yesterday, no signs or indications of any starting problems, car was left for about 10 hours and now nothing
any ideas ? |

Nope, my solonoid was not operating at all, totally dead.
Check
A: Battery is fully charged
B: All Earth Straps are secure and in good condition
C: Put your headlights on, do they dim after a few seconds? (if they dim, your battery is knackered) if they dont dim then try . . .
D: Headlights on, crank the engine, the lights should dim, if they do it means your getting the correct amount of current thru to the starter.
if they dont dim then no current is getting thru to the starter, check the condition of the cables.
E: Also check that the white wire is connected to the starter motor, its a push on connector and has a habit of dropping off (do this with the negative on your battery disconected)
It comes off the main harness that runs by the starter, you will prolly have to remove the starter motor heat sheild to check that.
Have you tried bump starting it ?
Also you said in your ebay ad that the engine is seized??
I also notice it did not sell, i can only offer £100 for it if ur desperate to be rid of it. |
