Not really a 'technical' question, but I've just fitted a mongoose stainless system from the cat back, and it sounds absolutely NO different to the standard Renault one!? I've got a de-cat pipe (a silenced one)......but I just don't understand I was expecting at least a little "vrrOOMM" when I started it up for the first time lol.........but nothing. Me & mate looked at each other like "umm.....we did fit the mongoose didn't we? Not accidentally put the old one back on??". So yeah, I just thought that was strange. I dunno. Would a non-silenced de-cat (just a pipe kinda thing) make a difference do ya think? |

Don't wanna sound a tosser lol, it's fine. But I asked on here if I could sneak an exhaust on without telling my parents (lol) and everyone was like "noooo, tis much louder" etc, and I have always just thought a stainless system would sound louder. I was wrong |

My ph2 has got a magnex stainless steel back box and pipe from the cat back and is louder than the standard zorst but not overly loud, it has a nice burble to it, its still got the cat on so when i find a nice cheapish de-cat pipe i expect it will get a bit louder.
One thing i also noticed whilst trying out Mick's chips is with Mick's chip my exhaust is louder than with the standard chip. |

And this is almost word for word what I told you by PM. I told you i had a magnex, you bought a mongoose. Not all brands of stainless exhaust will produce the same sound. |

I am not worried about the noise at all, I just thought it was strange that's all. I was always under the impression that stainless exhausts sounded a bit louder y'know? It makes sense that they would be. But like Neal said, different manufacturer's exhausts are gonna make different noises......but this one doesn't make a noise at all. Which is good cuz I get the performance without sounding like a Nova with a 6ft exhaust sellotaped on the back like chris said |

I found the scorpion and de-cat give the car a nice sound. It is kinda loud but at the same time I disagree with the whole NOVA comparison. The exhaust is louder but there is a difference between 20bhp shitty nova loud and 140bhp 16v loud, what I mean is you can tell that there's power behind it. |
