Ok right....
After my crappy santa pod times
I have been toying with new mods,
1> replaced the de cay pipe with my home mae new one.
2> Fitted a K&N Induction kit
3> Had my bro and his mates from renault toy around with it.
Now im getting as of a few weeks ago a respectible 16.2 seconds quarter mile.
1 thing i will say is.... DO NOT FIT A MONGOOSE EXHAUST SYSTEM..
On my standard exhaust I got at rolling road 141bhp!
With my new exhaust i got,, wait for it 141bhp
Whats the crack??? So I sent the mongoose back and refitted the standard one from renault... |

well of course youre not going to make any more power from an exhaust! (unless it's a max power certified one ) |

Lol.
So gutted to those people who spend £330 on a full stainless expecting power
I suppose it's the sound that makes you think you're going faster? |

exactly if it sounds faster it must be 10 times faster.
If the exhaust is desinged right to cater for the fueling, cam, porting etc etc then you can get decent gains from an exhaust but name 1 place that actually does anything like that aside from racing workshops.
Standard gear is normally the best. |

I put the standard exhaust back on my car.
Didn't like it that loud with the stainless. Motorway driving was hell, and if i want to drive fast, i don't want to attract the attention of every copper within a 5 mile radius.
Stealth is the way to be. |

I just can't believe that all these people who rant and rave about getting a backbox to free up a few HP are actualy talking shite Almost as shocking as my -2 Karma
Dunno if it's to lie, or more likely, a misunderstanding. Happy I only bought a standard 16v backbox rather than fork out £330 for some custom thing |

another factor to consider is lifespan. A stainless exhaust could be viewed as an investment if you plan on keeping the car for a significant period (like me ) as it is to a certain extent a fit and forget item which will live forever, not rot away like a standard one will over time. |
