hi, first post, but to the point

a friend of mine drives a R19 16v '94. and his front windshield cracked. turned out there was lots of rust underneath.

and as you can see, it's not a single spot, and goes from left to right

we allready stripped the front

now we should get it fixed. we could of course just cut out the rusty parts, and weld new plates in the holes, but we prefer to do sth more than just patch up the visible part.
would it be possible to replace the whole piece? it goes from left to right, and is connected to the side with some dot-welds, so that shouldn't give any problems. but we don't know wether it goes all around the windshield, or it's just down there to attach the whipers to.

does anyone know if you (still) can get the piece, and wether it's doable to replace it, if goes into the roof on top, it'll be to hard to do it ourselves.

here we're cutting out the front windshield, but it clearly shows which part should be replaced (black)

tnx!

the panel rusts on a lot of them, the problem is some were painted well others were hardly done, only primered in certain areas.

Anyway tyhat panel is still avaiable and no it doesn't go right up to the roof, just what you see really. need to take the dash out though.
