Hi all ,
i have just Falied my MOT with my 96Megane
Reasons
1. rear vehicle structure has excessive corrosion , seriosly affecting its strength withing 30cm of the body mountings ( when i spoke to the mot guy he said its some stailizer bar that is coroded that streches from the one side to the other) has anyone got any idea what the hell that is & where i can get one ?
I know its vague sorry , but thats what they have told me
Thank you

Sound like its the a stabilizing type bar that runs across the widths of the car Seriously though, sounds like he might be on about the anti-roll bar.. |

Yeah, the only thing that sounds remotely like is the torsion bar/ARB, but i cant see how that could be badly corroded and affect structural integrity |

is there any chance that the mot centre could be taking the piss ??
i need to replace the exchaust neway , as they said that was badly deteriated..so i think maybe i will ask them to check the bar in quistion .. can anyone reccomend a reliable place in the Surrey (farnborough/camberley) area please |

maybe they mean the body within 30cm of the mounting point of the "bar" is corroded..that will fail. |

rear axle or anti roll bar would fail on the rear axle anti roll bar!
Thsi refers to the chassis rails having excess corrosion.
To be perfectly honest I can beleive it as lagunas and meganes seem to rust very readily.
My mrs meganes under side is rough as anything, the rear arches are away, I find it appaling on a car thats not even 9 years old!
Look under and see where hes put the yellow chalk. |
