1. Will it be possible to retain the power steering at all? If so what additional parts/headaches will this be at the expense of? I'm assuming I'll need a 19 16v steering rack for starters?

2. The hanging side mount - I assume that this bolts to the drivers' side suspension turret?

3. Porting and polishing of the inlet manifold, worth doing? And how easy of a job to do is it and what tools will be needed?

1. You will need a PS rack. Im not sure if you might need one from a non-16v 19 though if the track is different. If the V6 engine comes with a PS pump, its just a case of connecting up the hoses.

2. If you intend to use that mount, you will need to do some modding to the shell in that area

3. i wouldnt bother with that at this stage, if it transpires that you cant get the engine in/running, you will have wasted your time.

As for 2. If you look at the TD 19's you'll notice an extra 'shelf' right in front of the suspension mount, thats where I think it would go.

Good point Huw, is it just the TD's that come with that style of mounting then?

yes just the td's.

That will need welded in btw.

1. any ps rack will do the job

2. weld it or we can knock up something

3. not very easy as you can't get to a lot of it unless you cut it in half.

Cutting it in half sounds a bit drastic! Would you say it's worth doing if you have to cut it in half?

OK then I'll maybe do that then, will be better than standard anyhow. What sort of tools/materials do you need, the same stuff in the porting/polishing guide in Retro Cars that Neil hosted?

Jimbo - care to elaborate on that? Double-Dutch to me that is!

I want a manual gearbox hooked up, couldn't stand not being in total control of the car.

I've been told by Jay on RSC that I can fit an early Espace V6 flywheel so that it will accept a manual gearbox but I can't see why I couldn't just hook up a manual gearbox from a manual V6 Laguna.

Manual V6 Laguna = Rocking Horse Shit.

Manual V6 Laguna, Breaking for Spares, With Gearbox Available? = Go figure.

the only laguna to use the manual pk6 box in the uk, was the 2.2 12v turbo diesel. all laguna v6's r autos.

however, all the new meganes and lagunas use the pk6 gearbox, some are 6 speeders, it would jsut be a case of swapping the bell housings to mate up with the v6 lump. after that theres the driveshaft issues and the linkage, as all pk boxes use cable shift mechanism.

Isn't the bell housing part of the gearbox? So what exactly is it that gets swapped may I ask?

Sorry to sound a bit dumb by the way....cheers for all the info thus far!

cable shift isn't the hardest thing in the world to do, its quite easy compared to other issues.

to do the job right ben die grinder and carbide bits.

Right-o. I'm still a little concerned with the gearbox issue. I fear that if I can't get hold of a manual one then this project will be a no-go!

Is Jimbo right when he says that all Laguna V6's were auto? There's no "cheap" way around it as such?

Ben tbh the cheap method is just buy a bloody laguna.
