In english that means 'text speak'. Personally i cant bloody stand it. Its irritating enough getting a mobile text message written in this monkey language, but when its on a forum from someone who is on a PC equipped, presumably, with a keyboard with the full complement of keys, it is inexcusable.
I would like to see a ban an 'txt spk', and also preferably some kind of filter that stars out the following examples (to begin with - more to be added later)
m8
with
anything
the
meh
u
c
before
later
done
and so on...
just me? |

hmmmm i don't tend to use any of the above with the exception of 'u' now and then.
But i do tend to abbreviate 'though' quite a lot in my posts to 'thou'. |

Agreed, the only one I use often is 'tho' to shorten 'though' |

Ok, most on the list are filtered. Some can't be for obvious reasons |

I didnt mean i wanted a fascist regime in operation or anything, with a crack squad of virtual jackbooted keyboard police going round kneecapping people who use an abbreviation here and there or anything. I sometimes use 'cos' or 'tho' myself.
Its just a general thing. You know what im on about, youve all seen it on RSC or cliosport or wherever... A few abbreviations is fine but sometimes you can genuinely hardly understand what the post says because of all the text speak (usually in block capitals, with no punctuation whatsoever, just a 5 line long single sentence). Just dont want this place to get like that is all. Needs to be kept in check IMO, thats all. |
