It will need re-calibrating yeah. And as far as I know it's a Renault only job. They do it on the diagnostic computery thing. That's how they did mine anyway. It's basically to setup it's initial position I believe. Like it's start point. I'm gonna stop pretending that I know what I'm talking about now. But I think I'm right

how much was that? not saying your wrong but surely it can be done by putting it on and twisting it so that it goes to where the bolt goes in and hey presto! but i'm not sure if i'm right!

Well my whole bill was £113. That was for a diagnostic test to find the fault (which was the TPS), a new TPS & fitting, and then another diagnostic check to check everything was okay. Not a bad price from a main Renault dealer I thought!

Heres the values that chris gave me:

Setting up. These are general values, its taken from a red TPS which is found on espaces, 16V's and so on.

3 wires, green red and yellow.

The outer wires, red and green are really what concern you. But on the other hand your reference voltage will also affect these readings!

red - yellow 5.78kohms 4.65V
red - green 2.01kohms 0.28V
yellow - green 4.27kohms 4.96V

dan, you say the values are taken from a red TPS as if different coloured ones are different? The original one on the car that was faulty on mine was red, but now my new one is black. Is exactly the same bit though I assume. Just black instead of red

Renault was out of stock on TPS senders in February.

Last news I have is that remanufactured TPS’s will be available at the end of June.

Maybe the new one’s are out and they are black.

I put my car into Renault sevice for an idle problem

Renault call me to say that the TPS is faulty, but replacements are not availible.

I found a second hand TPS.

Could see the marks from the old screws and paint on it.

fitted it to the marks OK.

Went back to Renault (who had told me the TPS was the problem) to have it checked

Told not to bother as if it is set wrong the warning light would come on Very Happy Very Happy Would you like to test the new Megane Turbo. Credit avalible.

Exclamation No thanks Exclamation

Problem was multiple, fixed it in the end. No thanks to Renault (France)

I think (proabally be corrected on this) that if you fit it to the old screw position. Disconect the battery to reset the ECU. it will sort it's self out.

The ECU is looking for a base reading and will take it from there. with a 10% initial setting + -
