i find the meguiars product range highly bewildering. Cant see why there are so many different products, and dont know which one to use. |

no it's just called quick detailer. the range is vast to now my set of megs stands at:
Soft Wash
3 step cleaner/polish/wax
cleaner wax
tech wax (NXT spray)
quick detailer
plastic-x
trim detailer
I love the stuff if you really look into it they all serve different purposes depends what the paint is like and what it needs to reach the best possible result. cars of our age benifit from a 3 step, but this costs £24 for the 3 bottles and takes alot of time. The final result is great, a clear wax finish as smoooth as glass. |

to be honest, i am of the opinion that good old t-cut and wax does the job perfectly good.
T-cut polishes the surface...
wax protects it....
i think there is a hell of a lot of gimmickery selling many many differing brands of polish. |

t-cut doesn't polish, a polish should feed the paint t-cut actually strips away layers of laquer/paint. best used for light scratches and overspray etc but not to often. the gimmicks are the thingd like the Flash car wash system.......hmm of course lets clean the car with the same stuff used upon the kitchen sink.....very big gimmick. |

T-cut is a polish, a polish is an abrasive substance that on a small scale rubs the surface away, smoothing out imperfections. Like rubbing with sandpaper. How do you think brasso works?
Anything that feeds the paint , like colour fast, just adds coloured stuff to the paint, filling in the imperfections in an attempt to hide them...this soon washes out. thats a gimmick
i feel the trouble is ppl want magical things that you just point at the car and all the scratches and swirls and chips magically dissapear...they don't want to crack open a tin of elbow grease and physically remove the scratches - the only way.
wax then protects this polished surface as it will easily scratch. |

Yeah I agree colour fast is crap, and yep agree on the polish term!
but paint can be fed to enhance depth appearance and colour, using natural oils. none of what i use is quick and easy, quite the opposite, i agree the only way for a perfect finish is to remove the scratches but there are only so many times you can actually use products like t-cut before you remove laquer & paint which reduces the protection |

true, why you should only use it for repairs like scratches rather than on a regular basis for making it look good.
but if the scratch has gone thru the lacquar it needs paint anyway. |

T-cut kicks ass I did my entire car with it a couple of weeks ago.
I didn't wax it though. Was thinking of buying one of those polishers from A1 motor stores.
The electric ones as doing it by hand takes forever.
Does anyone recommend them and would they damage the paint in anyway? |
