ok, well the polished rocker and inlet man have been fitted, but since refitting ive had an intermittant misfire problem, and the engines really slow to start - even tho the batteries fully charged.
wen removing the manifold cupla weeks back, i forgot to dosconnect the battery, and i accidentally shorted the +ve temrinal on the alt to the engine support wile undoing the mani nuts. dunno if thats shafted the alternator or wiring loom(but ive got no bat light on the dash?)
anybody got any suggestions as to wats gone tits up as it dies occaisonally wen putting the clutch in on the road.
friggin cars

alts boogered or the rectifier packs gone pop.
Or maybe the bulb on the dash has gone which makes them not work.
Does anythign smell burnt, I know its not easy tpo tell cos its an engine but burnt loom smells is distinctive. |

ok, well ive jsut replced the alt with a spare one i got. last night wen returning from a drive it died as i was pulling onto driveway, and becus the battery seemed half dead, i didnt try to restart it. now it wont even spark at all. theres fuel, plenty of crank, but no spark from the king lead. so my guess is the coil has died?

hmmmmm, ok well i wacked the battery on charge for a bit and tried it again. magically after much cranking, it finally started to fire up. finally got it running, but it still takes a while to get it started - like the starters half dead. also the fan desnt kick in, nor does the aux water pump.
any1 got a phase 2 hatch going cheap? so i can dump this engine in there.

You think you have buggered a lot of things up with the 'shorting' accident? |

ok, well todays story is this;
i changed the relays in the main fuse box in the engine bay. the fan and aux pump work wen they want - so summat dodgy there.
engine seems to crank fine, tho i think my duff lambda isnt fueling it correctly on start up - seems to struggle a bit. il fit the new lambda tomorow and see how that goes.
