Right then. Been doing a little research into getting more power for around the £500-750 mark. I don't mind doin the work myself as of course thats half the fun, so I'm after parts but don't know where to go with this really.

I want to get the best i can for me money so was thinkin inlet mani and twin webber/dellorto 45's (or similar). Another possibility is cam's/head work which I gather Chris H can do.

I guess the main question is which is gonna give better driveability in non "rag it" mode and which is easier to get parts for as well as of course which gives biggest gains. A few opinions on either route would definitely help my research a bit.

just thought I would add this (Ideally after more torque than power)

Cmon the sleeper!

power is a function of torque.

what car is it?

id say, headwork and cams to start with.

PH1 16V. I know you can't tune one without the other but I'd like to get more torque at lower rpm if possible rather than goin for more bhp which as far as my knowlege goes basically gives more top end. I guess a williams conversion will achieve this but bit out of my money range.

Can pick up webber 45's for £100 off a mate but they need a part refurb and an inlet mani. Have seen inlet mani's about but they're around £200 odd.

Can get cams and pulleys for about £300 ish but everyone who does head work puts P.O.bloodyA on their prices so I don't know where to start.

If anyone has any other suggestions I'd be happy to hear them.

I will send chris a pm about head work (this is as good as asking). Although having said that the 19 is a daily runner so I need to get a spare head to have the work done.

Don't think my chances of getting a williams lump are too great down here but you never know.

At the moment I'm just lookin to make a plan of action so I know what to do. I think head/cams is probably the best way to go though in terms of power for money and driveability.

Don't want to go stupid with cams as I still do a fair bit of driving through town and don't wanna screw things up on the idle.

My little dream is starting to come true, 449 PH1 Hatch with a bit more of a kick up the arse.
