looking in my engine bay... the green wire on this is hanging on by a thread...

just re-read. If you mean by 'hanging on by a thread', that the insulation is away and it is, literally, hanging on by a few strands of copper, than no thats not right.

the wiring plug is meant to sit on that black plastic block as well.

it is 'not uncommon' for them to have packed up though
