8000 rpm the limit goes up to on Mick's chips.
of course you don't have to throttle it all the way up to the limit anyway and even in 5th you are rarely going to be able to redline it on a regular basis |

you will never limit it in 5th at 8krpm unless you are down a big m,ofo hill.
need a big mofo hill to hit the limiter in 5th in my chammy, wasn;t so much a prob in the hatch right enough... |

Limiters are there for a reason right? You start increasing 'em and surely things are gonna start exploding?? |

The 1.8 in std form can take visits to 8k rpm fine. Its not as if you drive for more than half a second at 8k rpm anyway, you shift as soon as you hit it. |

7600rpm is the sensible safe max constant engine speed.
valve bounce happens before the bottom end goes really unles its been neglected. |

ok, well i dont like the fact of the limiter raised ye see, sure theres nothing wrong with it as you say chris, the fact my mums driving the car when im a provisional, and she caused the last engine to go by sitting on the limiter in 2nd with out realising it, so i dont want her to hit the limiter @8k but that will happen if i chip it. |
