Speaker companies make me laugh with their wattage ratings. 1000w......that's what power it can have driven through it until it physically disintigrates probably, but it will sound good up until about 200 or 300w. I dunno, just seems daft. You could kill a person with 1000w surely!
Not havin a go at your speaker by the way mate, just saying it makes me laugh. I'll be lookin in the argos catalogue and there'll be this little shitty ghetoblaster thing and it'll be like "8 million watts power handling" and I'm like "wtf!?" |

the 1000 watts is PMPO.
probably around 3/400 watts RMS.
If you run a 10 watt speaker from a 1000 watt amplifier you get amazing sound, it simply has th epower to control the cone. |

Yeah, agreed with you on that 100% Chris. You are more likely to damage a speaker by trying to power it with an under-powered amp, than when powering it like you said with a much more powerful one. People tend to think the opposite though, they're like "ooh, if I put 1000w through a 200w speaker, it'll just blow up" but that isn't the case. |
