Right, I'm wanting to remove the head(s) on the V6 just out of curiousity and also to see if there are any poor areas that can be tidied up. Will post some pics up to allow you guys to point out areas that I can work on easily!
Thing is, I've never removed a head before. So I'm wanting some very basic advice i.e. what needs removing, ways to handle/store the head and what will need replacing on refitting it (gaskets for example).
Any help appreciated, I realise this may seem like a very basic line of enquiry but I've never done it before and I don't want to damage/ruin anything! |

Everyone will think it, so I'm just going to come out and say it. Get a haynes manual and give us all a break with the questions. Either that, or stick to driving cars and buying engines off ebay to sit in your garage or cars to sit on someone elses driveway |

Now that your red shed has gone my mum said can she plant some pansys in your gearbox as its cluttering up the patio I'm thinking of turning Neal's exhaust (the bracket of which is looking a little rusty) into some kind of wind chime?
Couple that with the alloy centre cap, 16v badge and odds and sods I've got (most of which have been 'long term loaned' to liam) could be quite a display.
Or not. |

Especially if Addie's about!
Funny how the Haynes manual suddenly becomes the Gospel of truth when you can't be bother to answer!
And as for giving you a break Addie I don't recall you contributing much on here other than the occassional jibe! |

Better then talking bollocks and pretending to know what I'm on about
But seriously though I was only messing around, just you can be quite hard work asking obvious questions - I remember on RSC painstakingly telling you about RT to Valver brake conversions and the subtle but many differences between Chaved up PH1 and Valver
As for you head, have a look at Neals thread or FAQ had some detailed pics. |

Don't get me wrong I'm all for a laugh and I realise some of the stuff I ask is like second nature to a lot of you but I've never done it before!
I'm okay with the theory, just not very good at the practical! |

The haynes manual can be very useful for a brief overview of a job or if you just need to get an idea of what you need to do. |

Yeah thing is, I don't have the Lag manual so while the 19 manual may give a good overview it doesn't cover things that may be different on the V6, such as manifolds (looks like they don't need removing to get head off) and the removal order of the head bolts! |

I was going to say just get a lag manual, but looking at them; they dont cover the V6 |
