difficult start 1.8 rt SPI

its getting harder and harder to start up from cold lately ,i can hear the fuel pump priming and the starter turning as it should but somehow the engine refuses to start . today i had to bump start in reverse gear and it was not fun with a non worky steering .
after 5 mins i killed the engine and started up straight away no problems ,the CTS is brand spanking new and should not be the cause .

so what is it ??? starter motor ,battery ,alternator ????

fair enough ,i did neglect her a bit lately due to the new girl in town Laughing

its probably because i have not got a feckin clue where the crank angle sensor is ?? Laughing

where is it ?
also getting rattley noise from the throttle body/inlet manifold area which developed recently .i always thought it was the exhaust shield as it was missing bolts but it is not . is there a bit that can cause this metallic rattle sound in that area ???

The crank angle sensor is next to the angled crank....no seriously....top of the gearbox bellhousing against the engine block looking down at the fly...

can you take a picture of this please or can you point the rough direction to the sensor on this picture .

underneath the thermostat housing. 2 bolts, with a 2 pin plug on the end

buggery balls ,there is something(rather oily and black) just 1cm underneath the thermostat housing and there is a thick black wire going into it ,the wire comes along and i can see there are 2 thin wires inside .the wires end up in a grey plug that connects to another plug (2pin)

but that sensor thing you are on about how does it come off,i cant see any bolts etc due to lack of space ????????

the black sensor has 2 11mm bolts in it, either side, dont try to touch it when its just been run... Rolling Eyes

not 1cm below the thermostat, thats still on the head! thermostat, follow it down til u hit the gear box...there.

there is a metal water pipe going underneath the sensor as well ,this wont be an easy task but i shall achieve Laughing

below that pipe again!! keep goin until ur finger hits big metal thing - gearbox.

then on top of gearbox pointing towards engine, actually in the bellhousing of the gearbox you will find it...

remember that wire that we questioned sitting on top of the box, follow that.

found the fecker at last ,it does not appear to be a sensor at all but there you go

as you can see it was full of oil and crap ,gave it a good clean and put it back in .

while messing around the throttle body area i found this ,the plastic connector that connects 3 pipes together was broken even though i have done a tidy duck tape job months ago ,but i evolved since than and discovered fiber glass and the plastic connector was not aware of that was it ????

gave it a good clean first

than took it to schakal headquarters and introduced to super glue

and stuck the fiber glass on top

ten minutes later took the tape out and its stronger than ever

a few months ago when i took this connector out all the pipes and the throttle body was full of mayoish oil but never came across to that stuff today . still driving the car for short trips to work and back most of the time ,so whats happened there than ?????

ambient temp is higher these days so not as much mayo is formed.

this morning ,i tried to start up for the second time after the CAS cleaning and the engine just did not want to . as the car was parked facing up the hill ,i had to bump start it in reverse trying to dodge the cars parked on the street . can it be something else that the CAS ?

lately my mp3 player seems to be playing up too ,i turn it on and after a few secs it turns itself off .i turn it on again it turns off ,after a few times it decides to play and keeps playing . which makes me think off battery ???

if it bump starts then the CAS is fine.

Starters not turning quick enough.
