Y'know you can get aftermarket exhaust systems that are usually from the cat back etc? Well can you buy aftermarket downpipes and exhaust manifolds etc? Sorry if that's a dumb ass question, but one of my mate's is always bangin on about someone he knows with a "4 into 1" manifold and it's like the best thing ever apparently, and I was just curious.

Yeah, you can get "one off's"made up, but they tend to be expensive, anything is possible, just depends how deep your pockets are,

im not keen on "one offs", you are never to sure if it will work or be rubbish as there is no data to compare it with, id prefere someone else to do it 1st, and if its rubbish then dont do it Laughing

someone in the 21toc looked into getting a S/S maifold made up for the 21t, but it was gonna cost mega bucks, althiough there are 21t's out there with S/S manifolds on them, so it can be done.

Is the standard Williams clio exhaust manifold a "4 into 1"? Or did I make that up?

thats right, the williams is a 4 - 1 job. Megane Coupe is 4 - 2 - 1.

Cool, thought it was. So would the williams manifold fit the 1.8 16v engine? I know the williams is a 2.0 16v but I was under the impression they are VERY similar engines? Is it a good 'upgrade' to get for the 1.8 16v engine? Or shall I be quiet now? Laughing

The williams manifold will fit, but the only downpipe that will connect to it is the williams one, which wont fit in the 19.

Megane coupe manifold will also fit, and apparently, the downpipe will fit in the 19, although you would obviously have to bodge something to make the rest of the exhaust mate to the downpipe.

Its not something you would want to do anyway. The torque characteristics of the 1.8 and 2.0 engines are quite different, and the manifolds have been setup to suit.

the williams manifold and downpipe fits the 19 better than it does in the clio, lol. but the 4-1 arrnagment is crap, and stifles low end power. the top end pull ent much better either. the megane runs a tubular 4-2-1 effort, which is considerably lighter than the standard cast iron job in the eailier f7's.
