The reason im posting so many posts is that its is two renaults i have well my mate has one i have other, his is the one needing new gearbox. Mine is the 1.8 rt,and the problem is the catalyitic convertor!... the thing was rattling for a while now after time it makes no noise apart from a kinda rumble noise. Q. Can i carry on with it like this, and will there be a reduction in power due to this. Or can i just cut it off and put a straight through pipe on it, and maybe even increase the power slightly by doing so? (Dont worry about MOT as thats sorted!) Rolling Eyes

if you have no mot issues get a straight pipe stuck in there.

The remains of the cat will have to be removed from the rtest of the exhaust though. My sistes lagunas broke up and I had the joy of fremiving the exhaust from the cat back and chakign all the chunks and white dust out od the system then smashing what remained of the honeycomb out of the cat itself.

cool but im not sure if i understand whit yer sayin! Do u mean that get the straight piece of pipe in and then i will find bits of ceramic in the rest of my exhaust?both ways towards the engine and towards the back box? Coz i thought it would be the case of cut out the cat, stick in the straight piece and off we go! And will i gain or lose any power? Confused

the honeycomb breaks up and it depositis itself in the rest of the exhaust, so you could go and stick a pipe striahgt on there but there will be bits of cat in the rest of th esystem still, rattling away etc.

shoudlk gain a bit, the biggest difference is the way it revs. much quicker.

Chris, is there anything in the cat normally that looks like hair or glass fibres?

How about in the backbox?

black horse hair shit is the wadding in the back box.

When I got the white chamade back it was reversed in and it covered the porch thingy, tried to start it and it threw all the hair crap out all over the front door Rolling Eyes
