yes it can be done.
21 was avail as both quadra 4wd or 2wd.
engine is mounted longitudally not transversly so need to rotate it 90 degrees to fit it in. Its also a wide engine so its tight but it can be done. |

no fwd. Renault before the slapped things in transversly used a transaxle. Now a renault transaxlwe is a thing of beauty, Colin Chapman sure knew it as did many others.
The renault 25 (front wheel drive beast as well) lives on, well gearbox wise in the lotus esprit. |

I asked about this on another forum once, and was told that it could be done but would need a gearbox out of a Safrane TXI to turn the engine transversely and then it would fit and work.
Dont know if thats true or not though. |

yeha u need to use a p6 gearbox out of a safrane. this has the correct bell housing and bolt pattern to bolt up to the j series engine. then u got fathom out the gear linkage, as its cable operated... oh joy
