Ive no idea why renault boxes are so unreliable.

Ive changed boxes in clios, 16v 19's, meganes and sold several to people with lagunas especially the volvo engined 2.0 16v one.

I just cant understand what makes them just so breakable?

Any idea folks? or any preventative maintenance i can undertake?

theres no real weakness with the box aside from the diff circlip. Apart from that lkike any box if they are kept full of oil they will last forver.

Main issue is oil leaks, the selector goees in to the bottom of the box, most boxes go in from the top so theres no way the oil can dribble out.

look in the knowledge base at the article!

Main prob is the circlip groove isn't deep enough and its not the best design, good for equal length driveshafts but not for diff strength
