only kidding mate
like the piece you done on the Megane 20 16v (the g/f's twin car ), that carry on with the belt happened to the g/f's aswell, the exact same thing luckily we found out it was the belt and got it replaced before it done that damage,
i was up in Elgin with it last Monday (decided to give the 21t a rest for a change ) and when i got to Elgin there was a bad noise coming from the timing belt area so i took it to the local Renault dealer in Elgin and he reckoned but would'nt confirm that the timing belt tensioners where about to sieze and recommended i dont drive the car, even though the major service was just done 1500miles ago so i got it AA recovered back to Glasgow and gave it back to the Renault dealer who done the work to check out, anyway, turns out the timing gear was fine, it was the water pump, seemingly it was just about to pack up the mechanic says that there was alot of play in it ???
out of interest, if the water pump went while i was driving it, apart from over heating, would it damage the engine ?? the mechanic says that if the belt snapped while at high speed it would do damage ???
but for getting the water pump fixed she is driving like a dream, strange but true there used to be a very small hint of a lumpy idle but its gone now
oh yeah, £85 for water pump, £15 for a belt, and £125 labour and bobs you uncle, just like that |

mate you should have rung me, I would have done the work for half that!
Its a ph1 2 litre innit? If so the belt would have stopped the A/C, power steering, alt, and water pump, also if your unlucky like simon it could have wrapped itself round the cambelt and caused a big mess.
Rermember next time phone me, better job cheaper price and I can give invoices as well. Alan used them for his insurance claim which helped a bit with his payout.
As for updates, won't be any/many m,ore on simonsd as its fine, I need to update meddy clios though! |
