look at his answer to one of the questions
Quote: |
hello, i know people may think this as they look very similar and the engine within the clio williams and megane 2.0i 16v is built by renault from the williams unit, although this engine is not built by renault as the others are. Im not an expert and dont know about internally but comparing this unit to those fitted within both the clio williams and megane 2.0i 16v there are slight exterior differences. I have been to Renault and asked them about some of the things on this engine and they dont know what they are... for example, if you can see in the picture there is a small circular object sticking out the side of the engine, this has a little mesh filter on it and lets of a hissing noise when reved? no one knows what this is? and its not found on any clio williams or other 2.0i 16v? Renault basically didnt know too much about this car but said it may have the original williams engine renault then based their own 2.0i 16v on? if you can enlighten me any further let me know? thank you. |
i believe that would be a ecotec valve by the looks of it, in the end of the inlet manifold. |

f1 suspension...all carbon fibre, breaks if you hit a pot hole, or even sped bumps, i assume that means its got 4 wheel steering aswell? and all the diffusers to deflect the wint over all the arms etc. |

gawd, heres his reply
oh? im no specialist so im not sure and Renault werent sure either, i know my brother in law has a megane 2.0i 16v and my mate has a clio williams and after comparing, although looking the same overall, mine has a different looking exhaust manifold, head, gearbox, sparkplug cover is different to any ive seen and the thing on the side of the inlet manifold looks as if it screws in, whereas on the clio williams and megane 2.0i 16v's inlet manifold there is no hole or place for anything to screw? also, my car leaves both my brother in laws and friends cars standing and makes a mockery of their braking and handling? i dont know too much and dont know what an ecotek valve is.. why is it loosing 5bhp? and if i took it off wot (I mean what really) would go in the hole it would leave? thanks for your help |

Thanks mate, just dont get why it leaves a clio williams standing off a set of traffic lights and makes other megane 2.0i 16v's feel soo slow? if this is a standard negane engine previous owner must have done some mental modifications to the engine he never told me about?
