why is it every car i've ever had the washers pack up when the mot is due.

i'm guessing it's the stalk cause the back washer/wiper has never worked and its now spread to the front washer, took the stalk out and gave it a bit of a blow but no joy.

should be ok other than that touch wood, hand brake may need tightning and i'll chuck come injector cleaner through to be on the safe side.

i hate mot's stupid things

also while im on it as i was doing my pre mot look about i changed the oil and the coolant looked orible so i drained it out and refilled it, but when i re filled it noticed the fan wouildn't cut in, an air block or did it ever work ? car has always ran really cold so wouldn't have noticed, how can i test the fan the swith thing to it is a terminal block looking thing which bits to i need to link to force it to run ?

mot is a right pain in the ass mate, just had mine but passed after abit of struggle .
what car have you got ?
you can test the fan by connecting the terminals with a wire ,once you connect them together the fan shall run even with the ignition off.

but than testing the fan switch is another thing, you have to get it out and test it in hot water ,it works more or less like a thermostat and shall connect the circuit after being exposed to the right amount of heat (hot water)
you need a deep socket to get the fan switch out and if it looks fecked just renew it to be on the safe side ,they are only a tenner brand new but before doing all that check and make sure the fan is working first
