Boll*cks and bits, never in the field of human conflict, has so much suffering by so few bolts been inflicted upon the hands of a man changing an engine mount!
Looking up at the single nut which attaches the lower part of the mount, you are lulled into a false sense of security. Ha, five min job, no probs! There must be a bolt holding it to the engine? I know, i'll look at the new one, suspence, slowly unwraping the sticky brown greese paper, the enormity of "two studs at an angle" hits me.
After tearing the plastic shroud from under the wing (first attempt to remove bolt failed and removed large amounts of skin from hand), Ijacked up the lump on a wooden block to give a bit of room,16mm spanner in hand, removed more flesh from allready sore and bleeding hand trying to loosen bolt.
Two pints later (blood that is) the nut you can half see is undone, now the one you cant see but feel with the bone thingy that used to be covered in skin. F*cking nightmare, yep f*ck, f*uc, fu*ck, twelve years latter, well it seemed like it, nuts off and mounts out. Bastard thing went through a closed window, yep, i know, don't loose it and chuck things.
Cleared up the glass, sliced fingers on the glass, poured a large rum in a glass.....
At last its done, why me? |

it cant have been the same cos it was such a pig of a job...like foden said...one of the bolts you had to do by feel only...couldnt see the bastard, or at least not very much of it....and it was in one of those stupid position where you can only get about 1/8th of a turn with a spanner...and then u gotta turn the spanner over to fit it on again....REALLY balljoicy! |

now you mention it.. i think i did unbolt all that crap down in the corner and moved it out of the way - alternator etc, then unbolted the plate/bracket thing from the engine block and took the mount out with the plate/bracket thing still attached.
I still stand by my statement that it was easy :p |
