Ok, this is seriously pissing me off.
My car is turning over, engine is turning but it's not sparking, then all of a sudden after like 20 tries it finaly starts.
It doesn't always do it and it's only started it these last two days after about a month of being fine.
I dunno wtf it is but i'm going to go mental at that car in a minute.
Like I say, it turns over as though it's going to start but doesn't spark. A bump or jump start gets it going first time then it runs normal.
I've tried turning the alarm on and off but this seems to make no difference.
Anyone got any ideas please before I set fire to my car and walk to work.
Thankyou. |

maybe, battery might be dud now, the engine has to crank over fast enough to activate the ECU, if it doesn't meet the threshold speed its not gonna fire.
that why a bump or jump start gets it going. |

Still haven't had the clutch done, got a quote off a guy and he wants £100 so he can bugger off! Apart from that it's running great. Still need to give it a wee service and put some oil in the gearbox. Need to get some gunk to find out where the oil on the bottom of the box is coming from, can't figure it out! |

£100 is a good price, a bargain if you will!
oils either runnign round or the casings coming apart which can happen thus lose the oil and kill the box. |

Yeah Chris the battery is new. It never did it with the old crappy one that I replaced.
Could it maybe be the starter motor?. |

could be, but the new battery might be dud, more common than you think. try cranking it then smelling the battery.
if its a dodgy cell or something you shoudl get a pongy whiff, not always mind. |

Well when I say new, I've had it for about 4 months. I don't think it's duff as it could turn the engine all day. |

Hmmm, I thought £100 was a bit pricey for fitting a clutch (I'm supplying it). As for the box, need to clean it up before I can see where the oil is coming from it's a bit weird coz it's only on the bottom, under the driveshafts is bone dry. |

thats cos the box casing has split apart at the bottom, nothing to do with the shafts.
I thought he was supplying it.
Although to be fair 100 quid labours not that bad, not the deal of the centuary either right enough.
Finch check the starter connections before binnign the starter. |

Ok, she start yesterday fine but today was a no no.
Took the car to a friends garage and they looked at a few basic things. Dizzy cap and rotor were ok, spark plugs ok, battery ok. Nothing visibly wrong with it.
Is there anyway it could be the immobiliser cutting in?. How can I disarm the immob?.
If possible
Cheers. |
