Well, dunno if you'd call it an invention or not, but I've been wanting to do something to try and improve airflow for ages, but just couldn't be arsed. Well I finally decided that maybe I could be arsed and I came up with this......

Using this.....

.......I thought I could extend the air intake so the filter was further away from the engine. Well, the bend in the pipe isn't really perfect and doesn't fit amazingly, but anyway I have just 'bodged' this together......

I was intending to point the filter downwards, closer to the air feed pipe I've got coming from the bumper down by the foglight, but the bend in the pipe is wrong for it to do that. So I can only point it upwards. Doh. So I dunno how much of a good or completely-shit idea this is, cuz even though the filter is now much further away from Mr hot ass engine, it's kinda stuck in a corner with not much air flowing to it.

But maybe it will get a nice bit of cold air flowing over the headlight?.....

Who knows. Haven't driven it yet. Haven't even tried to shut the bonnet yet actually Laughing

whip out your indicator lenses, relocate the indicator system elsewhere (but within legal limitations of height, width, dimensions etc etc yadda yadda), and then get clever with some fibreglass and use the original indicator hole as your new airfeed Smile Seen a skyline with a whole headlight as its airfeed, so no reason why similar couldnt be done with the indicator lense.

just a thought

Yeah, when I went to santapod a few months back, it took me a while to realise why most of the cars only had one headlight Laughing

Slightly not road legal though, having one headlight!

Good in theory, but would probably look completley stupid...

Cut a hole in the bonnet over the filter.

The Clio Maxi ralley car had a grill over the filter but I do`nt know how it was set up inside.

Seen a pic of a 19 Rally car with the same setup.

Would be good for functionality I spoze, but I think it'd look a bit daft. Might have to get photoshop on the go and see what it'd look like!

I've just been out for a drive in it, and I can't really notice much difference in power (mainly cuz my car is poorly and is due in the garage in a few days & I don't wanna push it, etc), but it sounds quite different. Must be either the fact that the air has to travel further down the pipe, or the fact it goes round a slight bend? Dunno, but it sounds well cool! Very Happy
