richty, enough of this buy an engine hoist crap, i am gonna make one.
Guy I know is gonna give me scaffold shackles etc so I will construct an A frame and slap a pulley on it.
So where would one get a reasonably priced pulley thats capable of taking a good 250kg's at least.
Again laziness means me no looky. |

indeed Jonny, indeed.
Anyway tried screwfix, machine mart etc, cheapest is gonna be 70 quid for one. Not happy.
So i reckon i shall have to make an energy engine engine extraction unit, thaty will allow me to whip out an engine double time, and possibly launch it a good 30 feet in the air. |

yes thats a horizontal pulley, thats for pulling your land rover out of a bog. It will move the thing at 2 inches a minute.
Thats no use for a vertical lift as it would take all day.
The way I used to make the scaffold efforts was either a tripod or 2 tripods with a joining beam and the pulley on that.

that sort of thing. You need to attach the hook on the scaffold directly or put a chain over the pole then the hook through that. |

My mate Simon runs his own business and he has piles and piles of scaffold behind the workshop.
Boy I am doing community service with was a scaffolder by trade and he has shackles etc hes gonna give me.
So thats the frame sorted, its just a winch/pulley/engine operated ejection device thats holding the show up.
I assume even in Wales theres children? Gie them a tenner and they will nick you as much scaffolding as you want.
or talk to some workies with scaffolding, they will give/sell you some, they put it under acceptable losses. |

Ah got one of those (Chain Block) at home in the garage, dad used to use years ago (It's about 20 year old at least or something daft). Not sure if it would still work, it's rusty as hell. |

Mark dig it out, since its rusting away I will pay for postage and you can give me it, the payment you have is the fact you were in my presence at Blackpool! lol
That electric one is ideal, easy top control, used the 20 ton ones when I was working in Albion, easy to use.
The other one is fine but expensive. Screwfix and machine mart are cheaper than there. |

I'll have a look, it's pretty heavy though, I'm not exactly sure if lifting engines out was it's original purpose, but if it can lift old Zepher engines out, it should be alright for you. I'll get you some photo's tonight (If I get my PC back today that is) so you can see what it's like. (If I can get to it, garage is full of crap).
We shall have to review payment |

I don't have any big enough, I think it'd cost you a fortune for me to post it. But if you're ever going to be in the Manchester vicinity let me know. |

Doubt I will be near you Mark, when you coming up to see us btw? Its summer weathers good and theres hills to be camped on!
I think Crossers used a forklift to fit his RSi engine in.
I have done it by hand etc in the past but getting fed up of that and its not very precise either. Plus I am getting on and not as strong as I used to be either. |

Give it a bit more time to improve weather wise say about august time need to sort something out nearer the time, I have all the camping gear except... a fucking tent! So that's out of the question I think heh. I was going to bring Marv up (not asked him but not spoke to him in ages) but I doubt he'd be interested in going this time. |
