I take it the down pipe is getting in the way?
Sometimes you can move the down pipe enough to get the bolts out. If not then you will have to undo the two bolts that connect the down pipe to the manafold and to make enough room.
Shit job BTW. |

the downpipe is off the manifold, and has been moved to one side.
the problem is getting the bracket off the mount although both are loose and free, or having enough room to get one out of the way basically to get one out.

are you changing the mount or taking the engine out?
From what i understand you have undone the two bolts holding the bracket to the gearbox?
There is also a bolt holding the bracket to the mount itself, if you undo that and jack the engine forward by placing a jack between the bulkhead and the rear of the engine to move it it should be ok.
I'd just jack it forward first though as it may come free just by doing that. |

engine is in, and is staying in, i'm just changing a fucked rear mount, I have undone all bolts on the bracket, and all bolts on the mount.
Each are loosea nd can be pulled and pushed about in a small space, but there just isn't enough room to completely seperate them or take them out from underneath.
Currently the other two mounts are still connected do i need to undo these at all?, I don't want to tear any of these by lifting the engine too much.
But i'm also afriad of undoing these to get enough height to release enough space and not being able to get the fucking engine back in properly at all.
Good idea on the jack, i'm guessing a scissor jack will do it? |

No you don't have to undo them. You won't be moving the engine that much so you won't damage them.

Any standard jack will do, I use the standart renault one but some people have better luck using other makes as the renault jack can be fiddley.
Use a trolley jack under the engine to hold it in place. and using both jacks you should find that it gives you enough space.
It's still a shit job mind, takes me ages to get it out too so your not alone |

Well done.
I tried to change mine and gave up in the end.
First I got the mount free from under the car thinking like a Muppet it would come out the back of the sub frame.
Then got the bolts out of the bracket so it was lose. Jacked the engine up - down in the middle, no way to get the bracket out. Finally decided that the mount didn’t look bad anyway and stuck it all back together.
Nightmare.
Did try to get it forward with a couple of wooden wedges.
Next time I’ll try the jack trick.
Thought that it may be posible to drop the subframe and get it out through the back. |
