It take the piss that we have to pay extra. It's not us that's short of fuel it's the Americans let them pay the extra for it not us.

Really does take the piss when it's costing u 10p or more per mile.

what happened effected us too.
The oil comes from america as well as the middle east, The oil rigs in the Mexican Gulf shut down, or were destroyed therefore no oil drilling and less supply hence oil is worth more so the oil companies see fit to charge more!
not fair but unless the oil companies chairmen grow hearts or we strike oil here not alot we can do.

my other car just went in for mot, and the guy there said that the cost of an MOT will go up to £100 in the next 2-3 yrs, all this is going to put an end to young drivers on the road who cant really afford to pay stupid prices. Mad

fair enough the price of crude has gone up a bit but the problem is all the duty on top, and then VAT as a percentage on top of that, so any small change in the crude price gets amplified at the pumps.

That is, and always has been, the real scandal... we pay VAT on not only the fuel, but the fuel duty too! I mean WTF?

In work yesterday morning we had about 3 garages around here wanting us to make big number "1"s for their signs, so they could put their prices up to over a quid etc. Bloody reciculous I tell thee

Garage I go to around here had Optimax at 93p, and 'normal' petrol at 87p last time I went there. Last week sometime. God knows what it is now!

I am really dreading the next few days. I just started doin pizza deliverys for extra cash last week. At this rate I'll be paying for the petrol I use rather than the company I work for. They give ya 75p petrol per delivery + tips + hourly wage. It's gonna cost me petrol AND tips to pay for fuel if it keeps goin like this.

about %80 of the money we pay for fuel is for the tax and other crap decided by the goverment ,the actual fecking thing costs only 15-20p per litre.
so if the goverment lets ,it would be possible to get fuel cheaper ,its a bit like cigarettes and booze really Evil or Very Mad

Yeah, but they'd have to make up the lost fuel duty revenue with stealth taxes on other things.

Its not really like booze and cigarettes, you dont need those things to get to work do you... I say fine, tax cigs and booze to the hilt, they are luxury items anyway Razz

More than half the fuel used in the UK bears little or no fuel duty at all

Yeah, that's probably fuel used in airplanes, due to international airline companies using it to refuel they cannot charge the tax on it or they would never fly here, so airline fuel is exempt from tax.

Oil causes climate change and we import much of it from unstable regions. It's an inevitable fact of life that the price is going to rise.

It's also inevitable that baked beans and beer will rise in price over the years! But they rise with inflation (2.3%) not 2.3% over 2 days!
