battery light came on on way home from work. checked all earths and replaced one but it still comes on. it only stays on when revving even if only 1500rpm but not at idle. Is this a sign that the battery is not recieving full charge i.e. the alternators on it's way? or something else. i have spare alternator which i plan to swap tomorrow but if anyone else has any other theories please share
thanks

cheers chaps, my knowledge is slowly building, but when I diagnose things my self I always have a niggling doubt, so thanks for the confirmation. From what I gather i need to take the drivers side head light out on the R19 16v

thats how I do it, you can leave the rad in, but its so much easier with it out, you get plenty of access to the connectors that way.

Just to update, put a meter across the battery, turns out the light was on due too much voltage coming from ther alternator when under load!!! thank feck the battery didn't explode. got a reading of 17.8v @ anything over 1500rpm!!!! anyway swapped alternator, as regulator was obviously up the spout, what a shit job that is!!!
