Was looking at my headunit connectors earlier, only to discover a wire that was hanging out of the black plug - the wire is solid yellow, and i've no idea what it's for.

However lateley my cd changer (rubbish themselves anyway) has stopped working, and 2 replacements havent helped!

Could these two things be related, and more importantly, does any one know what this wire is for?

(2000 V Megane)

Cheers!!

Yellow wire is usually a 'remote' wire which only becomes live when the ignition is switched on.

It may be that the yellow wire you see is the remote V+ for the cd changer and so it's not powering up.

Trace the yellow wire, is it coming from the head unit or the loom or the cd changer?

Is it a factory fitted unit and changer?

yes it's the factory stuff unfortunately - the yellow wire seems to disappear into the loom - it should be attatched to the black power plug

what i was asking was whether it was connected to the problem, not how to reconnect a wire - I think I'm capable of that thanks mate.

The car, like all renaults, is a piece of crap anyway as far as electrics go
Secondly, I now know the problem is not related.

Not meaning to be a dick or anything, but I was just looking for a bit of advice, but nope I get abuse!

Cheers!!
