Thinking of saving myself a few quid and getting the RAC to collect me and this new valver that I got.
So does anyone see any issues that may arrise if I tip up in mary port, phone the RAC telling them that I'd left my car there for the last 6 month and now it won't start, move or whatever and now I need trailering back to my house.
Should be OK shouldn't it? |

first thing, check your policy, i am with the AA and they will only collect the car registered with them.
some policys just go on your membership but check
also i dont think saying that the car has been stood 6 months would go down too well, easier saying that you had visited a friend and it just broke down (disable it thou cos AA and RAC always try to fix it before recovery, so the guy will say ooo flat battery, jump it and whatnot ...) |

Any recovery guy will be able to tell the difference between a car that has stood/not run for 6 months and one that has just broken down though...? |

aye Neal has a point there unless you are gonna give it a good scrub down before hand lol
if its not moved in a year, which that one hasn't its interior is prolly dusty and got cobwebs in (bladys black chammy certainly did and that had only been standing 3 months), cobwebs in the door mirrors and lights and tree crud etc
iirc you said you could get it trailered back for £60 anyway?
you are prolly best off sticking with that plan. |

my policy covers me, I didn't have to register a vehicle so any vehicle I am in is covered too I'd have thought. (full coverage mind)
I was thinking of telling them I'd just bought it and it wouldn't work I'll just make out that I was stiffed and if the worst comes to the worst, they can bill me for recovery. |

Just try it on with the RAC... I'm sure even if it is against the rules, the recovery guy probably isnt really going to give a shit... and anyway, in my experience when you send for recovery rather than assistance, they just call another company out to get you. Just make sure when you call them, you make it clear that it is 'terminal' and not potentially fixable |

I was thinking about trying the RAC to pick up the Renault from my work. Let us know how you get on Docs. I know that when I called the RAC to set up cover for the Rover the did ask for the Reg no. but I know I'm covered for other cars, problem is, does that include another car that I own? |

Just had a look on the RAC site and found this:
If I buy a new car or am borrowing a friends car etc - will my RAC membership cover me?
Yes (except for Vehicle Based membership). RAC membership is person based, it covers you whilst travelling as a driver or passenger with any vehicle. (For restrictions, please refer to terms of membership)
Going to dig out the T&Cs and check that! |

The cover isn't for your car lindsey, it's for you.
If you break down in your friends car and their not covered, you will still get recovered because you are a member. |

nothing to stop you taking along the mot stuff and tax disc from your other 19, and swapping the reg plates from it though.
Course, i wouldnt condone such an illegal activity. |
