was having a word with finch, and it turns out that it if i was to insure a car in devon it would save me £500 (thanks shit hole slough)
so was wondering what the legleness of insuring a car in devon but keeping it it up here is?
seeing as i know people who live there (mothers cousin) so getting someone to vouch shuodent be that much of a problem, but even so..
and if i was ever pulled over by the police and they ask why the car is insured down there, dont think there is anylaw against driving your car outside of were its insured is there? |

if you claim why is the car where you live and not in devon?
They will do anything to avoid paying out.
Its daft the way the work it, you can live 3 doors down the same street and save up to a grand on insurance due to the postcode. |

I moved 1/2 mile across town to a flat closer to the town center (you would think that is classed as a higher risk due to piss heads using my road as a way home) and my insurance went down nearly £100. Not that I'm complaining |

so basically i can get insurance, but as soon as i need to clame, they will void it?
so if i was going to do that, might as well avoid insuring the car anyway and save my self the lot.
bloody typical. |

Until you have an accident (Probably not your fault) and the BIB find your uninsured, Then the other party finds your uninsured, then you find they're suffering whiplash and your working everyhour available to pay them what the court tells you to... etc etc
If you've got any worth as a human being, Get Insured.
How insurance companies price to areas is a mystery, but they aren't making shed-loads of profit out if it.
One nova in a supermarket car park can do more financial damage in 1 minute than 10 people will pay in premium during the whole of their lifetime. Add whiplash etc claims and make that 1,000 people!
Plus everyone wants to blame everyone else, Sue everyone else and claim for damage that was done elsewhere.
Grin and bear it while remembering that the un-insured will get what comming to them (hopefully!). |

i wasnt saying i would go uninsured, im just saying it looks like if i insure the car in devon, and they find out im not living there, my insurance will be void, basically not having it.
so if im going to do that, might as well just not insure it and save my self the lot, is what i was saying
but im not going to use a car regular that isnt insured.
so looks like im going to have to fork it out. |

When I was at Uni and took my car to Manchester the insurance/location debate came into question in the event of a claim being made.
Our CIS insurance rep said it could remain insured at my home address in Newark and if I had an off in Manchester then I could say I was just borrowing the car.
At the end of the day, a car is used to get you from one place to another, so if you have an accident what are the chances of it happening on your own doorstep? |

My Clio was registered at my dads name at his house in Arbroath (NE Scotland), I lived in Glenrothes. When some silly bint drove into the side of it i just said i was temporarily working in Glenrothes and renting a house for a few months as a base. Direct line had no probs with it. |
