No, I'm not getting my ass surgically enhanced, I'm talking about my engine.
What sort of price should I be looking at for a full bottom end rebuild?.
I've considered headwork etc etc before, but I want to get rid of this fecking lumpy idle if it's the last thing I do.
Is it a head off jobbie? or engine out? or sump off?.
Anyone got a guide price please?.
Cheers.

well its an engine out jobbie, but a lumpy idle wont be cured by a bottom end rebuild. |

Oh right.
Well I've been told that worn piston rings are to blame for the lumpy idle |

but then it be running rough all the time, is it smoking? done a compression test?
do a compression test before, as rebuilds arent cheap |

The guy who did my head gasket said it was a compression ring in the 4th cylinder that could do with replacing. It doesn't appear to smoke or drink oil |

throw some redex down into number 4 and leave it over night, in fact throw some down into each cyl.
Should free off any sticky rings which are quite common. |

Is that advice to maybe cure the idle or is that if I go ahead and get it rebuilt? ^^ |

pour redex in then hopeull ythat will free off the rings (only if they are stuck though) which shoudl bring the compresion on 4 back up and might cure the idle.
the idle on the energy's is never great btw. It will never be nice and smooth like say a straight 6 or something. |
