"It makes no sense to build a naturally aspirated engine if what you are looking for is good power output."

Errrrrrr okaeeey then, what about F1.
The BAR is rumoured to be putting out 950Bhp and revs to over 19,000rpm cos it's Sato's last GP and two engine rules doesn't really affect him. Not bad for a 3 ish litre N/A engine. |

It depends on the application.
BUT if you are looking for outright power then pressure-charging is the only way. F1 used to be allowed forced induction....they arent now for saftey blah blah blah, but if they could, they would |

following tradition
like i said, if you want to obtain MAXIMUM power/torque form an engine, then you need forced induction.
Take WRC cars for eg. they run maybe 3-4 bar inlet manifold pressure. they produce maximum torque from something like 2000rpm to 10000rpm. amazing |

no-ones saying that you cant get decent power from NA, but for the absolute maximum you want/need forced induction |

Gotta say you are absolutely right man. The old lotus turbos and that were hitting 1400bhp what was quite a few years ago now. Amazing really but having said that I'm amazed that drag cars get the power they do out of what in some cases is a 1 litre metro engine. ( Even though they only last a few seconds) |
