i have this immobilizer and its driving me nuts, everytime you need to start the car you need this stupid key fob that sits on the device in the pic, any ideas on how to overide this thing would be great.

id rather just remove it now, i had thought of soldering the wires to the fob and hiding it under the dash but if there is a better way then i would rather do that. |

keep it for insurance!
if you want to remove it then you'll need to cut it out and re-attach the wires, piss easy job. |

cat 1 is immob and alarm
cat 2 is an immob only.
Anyway either are pretty easy to get around.
I could get round em and drive off in about 5 mins if I didn't care about damaging trim. |

remnove the dash paneling, you will find the control box, eithger behind the carpet at the pedals, behind the heater controls or under the gear lever surround.
You will then have a lot of black wires, the black wires will be joined into various wires (also need to remove the drivers side lower trim), cut the black wires off and re-join the original wiring. The live is normally taken from the clock feed btw.
Obviously you will be left with holes from the receiver etc. And you should really solder the wires back together. |

I thought Cat 1 meant it had battery back-up supply! I think that's the only reason my alarm on the 19 isn't Cat 1, if it was then it would, all the features it has meet Cat 1 criteria. |

a cat1 alarm must meet criteria, you may be right about the back up supply.
We're talking about an immoliser here, which cant be Cat1 as its only an imobiliser and not an alarm/imobiliser. |

99% of alarms have battery back up, that swhy they go off when the battery is dissconnected!
Still matters not, if someone wants the car they will take it. |
