ive got a Volvo 460 which is actually running a renault 1.9TD engine, so i thought this would be the place to ask. i want to change the Lucas/CAV diesel pump for a Bosch one but dont know which one would be a direct replacement, if there is one at all. please if anyone has a renault 1.9TD with a Bosch pump or knows of a web site with comparison details could you post. thank you very much for the info in advance.

Bit of an odd question, can I ask why you want to do so, unless there's somthing wrong with the lucas?

its kind of an oily question, veg oil to be precise. the bosch pumps can take almost 100% and not have a problem whereas the lucas will seize after as little as 4 miles. so the lucas needs to go or the car.

has anyone got any ideas? if this works it could be used by all 1.9td renaults Wink. im running 30%veg to 70%diesel now with no loss of power or economy, in fact the car seems to run better for it.

Are you just buying it straight from the super market or getting waste stuff?

biodiesel is sold by many places using reclaimed chip fat etc and you can use it legally and it doesn't mess up the pumps.

Chris, im not sure if your familiar with the country of 'Wales'. It is a completley useless place if you want anything like that. Nearest filling station for bio diesel is about 50 miles away and even its still selling for about 89.9!!!

you can also use heating oil. for every 4litres of diesel put 1 litre in.

In that whole list there is only one person doing 100% biodiesel:

ID Oils
The Gardens
Malton Road
York
North Yorkshire
YO32 9TN
tel: 01904 400552

Map 100% blend

hehe, tried that stuff - its a bit thick and kills a bit of power, but its 69p/litre with duty paid!

i might have found a solution after checking all renault 1.9 diesel engines it seems in 1999 an espace was made with a 1.9TD engine and bosch pump. all i need now is for someone to post a picture of there engine, without its plastic covers on so i can compare layout with the ealier 1995 renault engine in my volvo. my guess is itll fit.
