Went to the scrappy earlier in search of an ABS module.
As I walked around the stacks of cars I looked at loads of different makes and models with their front wheels removed, just out of interest.
Most of the front suspension setups on them are, as far as I'm concerned, crap!
Astras, escorts etc., all look cack compared to the 19 setup that I'm familiar with, and in particular the Rover 200 setup looks stupid.
Just thought I'd say. I love scrappies, always something to look at. |

yes they are but no one else will listen.
Renault are one for the few pioneers of the front lower wishbone!
VX, ford etc all use tie bars.
the pug 205, they use pish set ups except the gti's which use wishbones!
the rover rear is twin wishbones of a fashion are they not? I cannae mind. |

yeah the rovers have a sort of wishbone/trailing arm type thing. Apparently the same as the integra rear suspension. Mk2 200 that is, the mk3 uses the rear suspension from the maestro!
On the mk3 astras i looked at, the steering rack is mounted halfway up the bulkhead, and steers the strut rather than the hub. WTF? |

yeah the vx set up uses an arm on the strut body.
I will never forget driving a mk2 astra at speed when that broke off the strut. |
