Just been round my bosses' place, he's quite into rallying and has his own rally team which is sponsored by and advertises the business.
Ford Escort Cosworth, runs the YB engine, 4WD 2.0 16V Turbo if I'm not mistaken. With a T6 management system and other mods it purrs to the tune of 325bhp and makes a little more than that in lb/ft torque. Brakes on it are mental - 378mm 2-piece AP Racing efforts at the front and 355mm discs at the back. Rolls on 18" 6-spoke Compomotives presently although my boss is looking at changing to smaller (yes smaller) discs so 17's can be fitted which opens up the number/type of tyres available.
A completely fibreglass shell makes the car extremely lightweight and allows the car to do 0-100mph in under 5 seconds.
Anyway story is that it's off road at the minute due to gearbox failure. Apparently has been a bad year for the car, with around half a dozen such failures.
'Box rebuild gets done either Tuesday or Wednesday and between then and Sunday it needs to find it's way back into the engine bay ready for a stage in Rockingham.
Nevertheless have offered my assistance in getting the car ready for Sunday and a ride in it has been teased at!
Pics to follow hopefully! |
