 Brake Caliper Removal

Being a complete knob head at anything on my car I need to ask this: why does my haynes manual say that I need to replace the guide pins once I've removed them from the caliper (girling by the way)

Because they are the only thing that holds the caliper on the car, allbrake pads come c/w new ones, same as hub bolts.

Its the sort of thing you can prolly get away wiht just using loads of locking compaound onthe, but persoanlly i wouldn't take that risk

still the wheel bearing, poss track rod ends and two tyres are needed

wheel bearing needs pressing that a garage can do in one go
but track rods are no biggy ,i can give you a hand with them if needed
and sad enough i just dumped 3 perfect 13" steel wheels with tyres on them a fewe weeks ago ,you could have had them for free if i knew you needed them Confused

it's stood on 14's at the mo, i can get tyres no probs, i'm gonna buy axle stands on the weekend cos i cant find mine anywhere so the car can stand while i go to the garage
