CUTTING OVER 5K RPM

on the way back from work trying to take over a big truck in the 3rd gear just past 5k and the engine cut down for a few secs like the limiter kicked in or something . the engine was not cold btw

any ideas what could have caused this ?? a timing problem may be???????

thinking about it last night somehow the fuel pump comes to mind,as i lately had a little problem with it not working due to feckered earth .

i dont know if this makes any sense but would there be a chance where the fuel pump can cut out or not pump enough fuel for the mentioned rpm and over
or fuel filter feckered and does not let enough fuel to go through the pipe ?

i shall use good amount of redex for a start ,

and i am %100 sure i have seen over 7k rpm with this car on my way to devon many times ,so this is something new

change the filter and make sure the pumps working ok then.

of couse you have seen over 7krpm just like everyone else Rolling Eyes

The tacho's crap, it doesn't do 7200. Its over read, its not that hard to get the needle bouncing over just cane the thing. I would have thought it would have been common knowledge (esp on here) that speedos/tachos are not that accurate

when my clio limiters in 1st it reads 6800 but i know its doing 7200 it just doesnt have time to keep up lol

i need to change my fuel filter(hopefully it will be the cure)

past couple of days when im taking corners or going around round abouts mine kinda like judders or loses acceleration for a second and kicks back in Confused

could be throttle position sensor schaks, sounds like what mine did when that was my problem

nahh ,my valver is just fine mate
treated her with a bottle of wynns injector etc cleaner stuff and topped the fuel up to 10 gallons ,tested the revs after 10miles of drive ,she pulls like a dream up to 7k (i did not push it any further) does over 110 in the 4th gear ,thats news to me and i am well chuffed Laughing

i dont know if its just physcological or what but the engine seems to be running a lot smoother and quiet Rolling Eyes

how many fucking times do I need to tell everyone it only goes to 7krpm no higher.

Anyone else talking shite about 7200rpm limiters which do not exist on car except the adjustable co ones will be locked down.
