Got one of these nice 30 pound fines while I was in the hospital this morning. Now that would be ok, if there was somewhere else to park within half a mile of the hopital. Went to the police station, told them where the traffic warden could stick it. Better go along and pay it later; yes, I am a coward. |

When I got a parking ticket I was talking to the cop and he told me that I might as well leave the car there as it had a ticket on it... I thought the whole idea of the system was to keep certian areas clear?
All you have to do now is don't open the ticket, take a note of the ticket number and go and pay it. Then anytime in the future that you can't find a space, just bounce the car up anywhere and slap the ticket on the windscreen. |

They do have dates and locations too, however if it is not opened then only the ticket number is visible. And as it is an offence to tamper with a ticket then no one will be opening it to find out. |

Hmm, I think they prefer to clamp rather than impoud, round this way. In which case you just show it the business end of an angle grinder. |

or the legal way of getting it off, let wheel down, shuffle it round, take the wheel off, put on the spare, take it to the office of the clamping agency, tell them to remove it as they are tresspassing on your property!
Brilliant having a friend who studies law! hes helped me out loads! |

Interesting, but how do you get the wheel off as I thought the wheel nuts were covered? Maybe there is just enough space to get a ratchet and socket in when the wheel is flat? |

removing a wheel with the clamp still attached used to be easy. the part of the clamp that covered the wheel nuts used to be very small so yes by letting the air out of the tyre you could shuffle the clamp about and remove the wheel complete with clamp from the car.
how ever there was drawbacks, damage the clamp whilst removing it will cause you to be charged with damage to property, and taking the clamp with you when u leave means theft of property.
by the way your friends advice would only get you into more trouble as by taking the clamp and wheel to the office is basicly an admission of theft.
The posistion of the law is this
if there are warning notices on display which make it obvious that to park will constitute trespassing on private property or if you are not paying a fee or have parked outside the time the fee refers to, then there is a risk you will be clamped. This is because the law will infer that you "consented" to your car being clamped and to payment of the stated release fee
Now of course most wheel clamps have a front plate on them so large thats it is impossible to get to the wheel nuts even with tyre deflated.

Aye, but what about if you were to jack the car up and undo the wishbone bolts, strut top mounts, track rod end, and driveshaft, could take off the whole corner.
As long as you carry a spare front suspension corner around with you youre sorted |
